The pattern for my neice's sweater arrived in the mail and I have been working on getting the correct gauge. I think I finally have it right! Time to cast on!

Baby Gifts
The trio of small baby knits which is a gift for my pregnant friend is done! They are so cute and I think they make the perfect present. I knit them all in white because she is not going to find out the sex of the baby beforehand.
Here is some information on each:
"Project 1"
Pattern: Sachet by Debbie Bliss from Baby Knits for Beginners
Yarn: Debbie Bliss Cotton DK in white
Needles: US 6
I thought this would be cute for baby keepsakes or maybe adding a scent to keep baby's things smelling nice.
"Project 2"
Pattern: Two Needle Socks by Debbie Bliss from Baby Knits for Beginners
Yarn: Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino in white
Needles: US 3
This is the first time I have ever knit a pair of socks. I was a little bit nervous at first but they were easy and so much fun to knit - I am hooked.
"Project 3"
Pattern: Simple Hat by Debbie Bliss from Baby Knits for Beginners
Yarn: Debbie Bliss Cotton DK in white
Needles: US 6
I knit this hat for Oliver and he wore it all winter long and looked so cute. I just had to knit it again.

Took a Break
So.... I cast on "Project 3" of my baby knits and knit 2 rows when I just got really bored. So I put the knitting down. For 2 weeks. I didn't knit a stitch. I have been taking walks with my son everyday and have just been sitting back and enjoying spending time with him, watching him play and crawl around. It was a nice break but then I got that sudden urge to cast something on. I had some yarn in my stash saved aside for a sweater vest for Oliver, and although I said "no more baby knits!", I couldn't resist. I cast it on in the largest size of the pattern - just to be sure. I'm not so speedy these days.
This is the first time I have knit anything with cables. They are quite easy, a little time consuming, but they are fun. This gave me an idea: My neice's birthday is just around the corner and I know of this pattern for the cutest cable knit sweater. Perfect for my next project! So off to my LYS to find some yarn. I found this pretty pink cotton which I think she will love.
I ordered the pattern and should get here in a couple of days. I realized that I would need the needles I had already cast on "Project 3" with so yesterday I started a mad dash to complete that by the time the pattern arrives. I't coming along and I should be done with it today.
In my other spare time (like I have so much) I have started reading a book:
Kintting Under the Influence by Claire LaZebnik. I was strolling through Target and it happened to catch my eye. It looked like a cute read and the last time I read a book was...... ok, maybe I'll pick it up. It is a cute read but not what would usually be on my reading list. I was an English major in college so I usually read something a lot more "literary". Not much knitting going on in the story. The author throws it in here and there. Kind of like me lately.

Welcome Spring
Spring has finally sprung around here and Oliver and I have been taking full advantage of the warm sunny weather. We have been taking long afternoon walks just soaking up the sun and viewing all of the flowers in bloom and green buds and new grass everywhere. It is such a welcome change from just a few weeks ago when it was cold and snowing! We are really enjoying our lazy afternoons. They are, however, only partly lazy. Oliver has started crawling and as soon as he is out of the stroller he is off and I am running around chasing him to make sure he does not get into anything he shouldn't be getting into (which is almost everything, right?).
As far as the knitting goes, "project 1" is off the needles as well as "project 2". I finished "project 2" a couple of days ago and have taken a short break from knitting before I begin "project 3". Here is a little preview of "project 2":
I have been trying to decide on my next knitting endeavor and I really can't decide what I want to do. I think that is what is holding me up from starting my third and final project for my little baby knits. I do have yarn for another sweater for Oliver but I really want to knit something for myself. I think a little browsing at my LYS today will help me decide.
